Elon Musk worried that Starlink could be used to start a new World War

The world is no stranger to the war that is unfolding in Ukraine after the Russian invasion, and this is affecting many countries in a socioeconomic way that are facing hard months of crisis.

starlinkowned by Elon Musk, is providing part of its functionalities to Ukraine so that the connection to Internet in much of the country after the bombings, but there are many external voices that are encouraging SpaceX itself to deploy many more satellites and with greater functionality.

However, lest the conflict escalate into something much more serious like a hypothetical World War III, Elon Musk will apparently restrict the use of Starlink satellite internet service by the Ukrainian military so that it cannot be used as a tool as an excuse to start a larger war conflict.

And the former NASA astronaut, scott kellytook to Twitter to ask Musk for direct help in further supporting the Ukrainian military with increased functionality on the Starlink satellites.

On Twitter he comments that “restore full functionality of your Starlink satellites. Defending against a genocidal invasion is not a defensive capability, it is a survival one. Innocent lives will be lost. Can you help. Thank you”.

Elon Musk does not want the conflict to escalate

However, Elon Musk has responded to Scott Kelly himself that “I think you are smart enough not to swallow the media and other propaganda”.

Clarifying that the Internet service managed by SpaceXremains the backbone of Ukraine’s communications, especially on the front lines, where almost all other internet connections have been destroyed”.

To which Musk adds that “we will not allow an escalation of the conflict that could lead to World War III”.
