Rosemary Baked Turkey
Turkey meat is characterized by being less fat than pork or beef, and a great source of protein, for this reason it turns out to be a healthy and exquisite dish for Christmas.
- 1 whole turkey of 7 kilos
- ¾ cup olive oil
- 1 head of garlic, peeled and crushed
- 1 handful of chopped fresh rosemary
- 1 handful of fresh basil
- 1 handful of Italian herbs
- Salt and black pepper to taste
First start by mixing the olive oil, garlic, rosemary, basil, Italian herbs, black pepper and salt. Then, wash the turkey and remove the fat well. Once clean, bathe it with the previous preparation and make sure to distribute it all over the skin, including under the breast, legs and thigh.
Place the turkey in a baking dish, cover it with water and take it to the oven at about 180 ° C degrees about 3 to 3.5 hours. Every 20 minutes, take it out of the oven and add the water from the tray on top. If you see that it is very little, add more to ensure that it is juicy.
When it’s golden, remove it from the oven and let it rest. If you like, before taking it to the oven you can stuff the turkey with a mixture of mushrooms, whole wheat bread crumbs and apple pieces.
